I am always looking out for Banksia trees. Intrigued by their flowers and foliage, the Banksia seed pods also have a self-healing mechanism in them, allowing for fissures to heal. Whether painting in acrylics or watercolour, I find painting Banksias a healing process, with each brushstroke, dap of colour, this accumulation of actions healing me, allowing me to take a breath and forget my everyday. My works take shape, just like in life: each step, each act, our choices etc. shape us.
